What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior CNC Swiss & Multiaxis Machining Specialist position at TOMZ Manufacturing Corp?
What your day looks like
At TOMZ, you’ll take the lead on setting up and producing precision components for medical devices across our machining department. Your day begins by reviewing ISO 13485 documentation and job travelers, moving quickly into machine set-ups for complex legacy parts and new production orders. You’ll keep production humming by dialing in offsets, changing tools, and validating dimensions with first-article inspections—then transition into steady, repeatable runs with thorough AQL data entry into the ERP.
Your impact- Own end-to-end machining: set-up, operate, and sustain production on Citizen and Tsugami CNC Swiss lathes, Index multi-spindle lathes, Willemin mill-turns, and 3/4/5-axis mills, plus anodize/passivation lines.
- Ensure quality every time: perform visual and dimensional checks using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gages, comparators, micro-hites, CMMs, and vision systems.
- Advance new products: run qualification builds for NPI, conduct Zeiss (or similar) CMM Gage R&R, and complete first-article inspections with minimal support.
- Lead others: coach Machinists I–III, guide problem-solving on complex machines/processes, and champion Quality Best Practices and GDP/GMP improvements.
- Protect traceability: manage material control and identification for conforming and nonconforming product through each manufacturing step using our ERP and QMS.
- Keep equipment reliable: perform prescribed preventive maintenance and make basic adjustments to FANUC (or similar) robot programs.
- Stay safe: follow occupational safety requirements and PPE rules at all times.
- Contribute broadly: complete all quality inspection documentation and step in on related tasks as needed.
