TITLE: Intervention and Gifted Education Teacher

Rationale:
The Intervention and Enrichment Teacher position is established for the purpose of providing
systematic intervention and enrichment to students. The primary purpose is to improve and
accelerate academic achievement and behavior for all identified students. The School
Intervention and Enrichment Teacher will also provide leadership to classroom teachers in
implementing intervention and enrichment initiatives. The Intervention and Enrichment Teacher
will plan, implement, and assess intervention and enrichment services to ensure fidelity.

Qualifications:
1. Elementary Teacher Certification
2. Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience
3. History of increasing student achievement
4. Leadership and collaboration skills
5. Proficient technology skills
6. Understanding of, experience in and commitment to intervention strategies, assessment,

professional development
7. Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-family relationships
8. Specific Professional Practices, Duties and Responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Immediate Building Principal/Supervisor in collaboration with Directors in the
Curriculum and Instruction Office, Superintendent and or his/her designee



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Related to Data Based Decision Making:
1. Analyze grade, class, and individual student academic and behavioral data for the

purpose of increasing student achievement and making informed decisions relative to
instructional practices.

2. Review and evaluate student achievement information in order to place students in
appropriate academic or behavioral intervention and enrichment support services.

3. Collaborate with other teachers for the purpose of increasing student achievement by
ensuring core instructional best practices are implemented with fidelity and staff are
differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students.

4. Utilize protocols to ensure that interventions and enrichment activities have been
implemented with fidelity.

5. Use systematic and valid data collection procedures to measure effectiveness of their
own services in order to evaluate the impact on student achievement.

6. Assist in developing a systematic and comprehensive process of data collection,
effective decision making and problem solving that permeates all aspects of the school.

7. Maintain up to date files related to student support and in accordance with any Board of
Education policies.

Related to Consultation and Collaboration:
1. Participate in district professional development related to job and attend meetings,

training and professional development as required outside of designated schedule.
2. Provide professional development opportunities in universal best practices and

interventions for learning and behavior to school staff.

3. Assist in providing professional development opportunities and communicating pertinent
information to staff as needed.

4. Keep informed of best practices and new developments related to literacy, math and
behavior and share the information with appropriate staff.

5. Participate in ongoing and job embedded professional development such as meetings,
workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of determining success of literacy
and math content knowledge and pedagogy related to intervention and enrichment.

6. Facilitate effective instruction that meets the individual needs of diverse learners by
providing individualized instruction, managing classroom behavior, monitoring student
progress, evaluating classroom data and adjusting intervention and instructional
strategies to make content accessible to every student.

7. Actively participates on the school based intervention team.

Related to Direct and Indirect Services for Children, Families and Schools

1. Work with other school personnel to develop, implement and evaluate effective
interventions and for increasing the amount of time students are engaged in learning.

2. Model exemplary classroom practices and communicate a deep understanding of
literacy and math theory for the purpose of improving student achievement levels.

3. Provide explicit, scientifically based instruction and intensive interventions to individuals
and/or small groups for the purpose of improving literacy and math achievement levels.

4. Assist in the scheduling and assignment of student interventions and enrichment.
5. Assess implementation of classroom interventions to ensure fidelity.
6. Monitor and communicate student progress with students, families, administrators, staff

and community.
7. Work with staff to assess learning and behavioral needs and distinguish between issues

related to family, culture, or language and a language style or disability.
8. Collaborate with administrators to adjust school and/or classroom facilities and routines

to promote greater engagement, positive relationships, achievement, positive student
behavior and cultural competency.

9. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Superintendent and or his/her designee,
Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Business Administrator or their designee, where
circumstances prevent assignment through the chain of command described herein.
