Tomorrow Lab, a 15-year-old hardware innovation studio in Brooklyn, NY, collaborates with entrepreneurs and firms of all sizes to invent and prototype new technology products, transforming them into market-ready, manufacturable solutions.
Role Responsibilities:
The Senior Electrical Product Manager is a critical role within Tomorrow Lab’s development team, supporting the Electrical Engineering (EE) department’s efforts in primarily the development, testing and manufacturing of electrical systems, as well as supporting firmware development for multiple products/projects. They will also interface with EE contractors and Contract Manufacturers to help lead the EE & FW aspects of product manufacturing programs. They will work closely with Tomorrow Lab’s Project Manager and Senior leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and scope.
The role requires great attention to detail, high-level validation of work of staff electrical engineers and awareness of EE work streams for multiple active projects. Some examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to firmware and electrical systems refinement and review, NPI production planning, identifying and managing risks, testing and documentation review, supply chain communications, assisting in brainstorming/resolving EE related engineering challenges and delegation of additional assistance when needed to supporting EE contractors.
Above average communication skills are imperative, as it is critical for the individual in this role to deliver timely results based on good process and documentation, and to always know where they and the team are at in the duration of the task and scope of work at hand.
The technical/engineering/firmware responsibilities should take precedence over the project management aspects of the role, however it is to be expected that both are being worked on in tandem to help support the outcomes, deliverables and deadlines of the projects assigned.
Role Qualifications & Requirements:
- At least a BS or BE in Electrical Engineering or related Electronic Design field of study is preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of 8-10 years related experience is required.
- Must have Hardware industry experience.
- Must have experience in design, repair and analysis of electronic systems.
- Must have experience successfully managing a remote team composed of designers and other engineers including those from other engineering disciplines.
- Must have experience in factory manufacturing, NPI (new product introduction), scaling.
- Must have proficiency in Eagle, Fusion, Arduino, Segger and STM32CubeIDE or equivalent.
- Must be fluent in writing and reviewing firmware in C and C programming languages.
- Must be comfortable working on Mac and PC computers.
- Must have technical writing skills.
- Must be a self starter and able to work independently and on teams.
- Must have excellent time management skills in order to prioritize deliverables and timelines.
- Must be a clear communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must strive for excellence, find innovative solutions, be detail oriented and have an analytical mindset.
At this time, all Engineering Staff must either be willing to relocate, or already reside in the NYC area.
Additional Information:
- Compensation: will depend on experience; $100-200 per hour
- Start Date: Open to immediate or within the next 4 months
- Hours Duration: Up to 20 hours per week / 80 hours per month
