Tomorrow Lab is seeking a full time, temporary Industrial Design intern to join our small but mighty team!
Founded in 2010, Tomorrow Lab® is a technology innovation studio focused on prototyping and developing new hardware products. We partner with entrepreneurs of all sizes to turn their bold ideas into manufacturable, market-ready products.
The Industrial Design intern will assist in the design and development of technology products for both Tomorrow Lab’s wide variety of clients and internal projects. The ID intern will be responsible for supporting and creating designs of the form, function and user experience of the hardware products Tomorrow Lab creates, while taking into account user needs and brand language that translate into the physical form. The ID intern will work closely with Tomorrow Lab’s senior department engineers across all departments (ID, ME, EE) and senior leadership. The ideal candidate should have excellent hand sketching skills, CAD and rendering abilities and be a clear and confident communicator. A portfolio is required for this role and applications received without a portfolio will not be considered.
Tomorrow Lab is looking for at least a six month full time commitment and is flexible on start/end date.
Qualifications & Requirements:
At least a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field of study.
Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply, and in this case preferred.
Strong knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks, Creo or equivalent), Keyshot, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Understanding of hands on design around concept, strategy, sketching and rendering.
Strong physical prototyping skills (model making, 3D rendering, quick prototyping).
Must be adept at making things with their hands.
Comfortable working on Mac and PC computers.
Interest in learning cross-disciplinary skills, such as exploring mechanical engineering or electrical engineering, is a big plus.
Must be a self starter and able to work independently and on teams.
Excellent time management skills in order to prioritize deliverables and timelines.
Must be a clear communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Should strive for excellence, find innovative solutions, be detail oriented and have an analytical mindset.

At this time, all Engineering Staff must either be willing to relocate, or already reside in the NYC area.

Compensation:
Tomorrow Lab internship opportunities are paid hourly and compensation will vary upon experience.
Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $34.00.
Generous PTO including a set amount of vacation days, federal holidays and a winter break (policy will vary depending on part time/full time status and length of internship).
