Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, masking, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
- Apply primer, base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes using conventional spray guns and airless paint sprayers with precision and consistency
- Perform surface repairs including dent removal, welding, and auto body refinishing to restore vehicle integrity before painting
- Use hand tools, grinders, power tools, and buffing equipment to refine surfaces and achieve a smooth, professional finish
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols such as respiratory protection and proper handling of paints and chemicals
- Conduct auto restoration tasks including auto glass replacement, detailing, and minor mechanical adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with team members on estimates for repairs and communicate effectively with customers about the painting process
Qualifications
- Proven dealership or collision center experience as an automotive painter or refinisher is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with hands-on experience in auto body repair and vehicle maintenance
- Proficiency with surface preparation techniques such as sanding, masking, and automotive buffing
- Skilled in operating spray guns (conventional and airless), grinders, buffers, and other power tools used in auto painting
- Knowledge of automotive surface preparation standards and auto restoration processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on achieving high-quality finishes in auto body refinishing
- Strong customer service skills paired with auto estimating experience are a plus
