What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Instructional Specialist - Tomball Intermediate School - 2026-2027 School Year position at TOMBALL INTERMEDIATE?
Primary Purpose:
To support implementation of district early childhood and early literacy programs and initiatives (Fifth and Fourth Grade).
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree from an accredited university with emphasis in reading preferred
Master Reading Teacher Certification preferred
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
GT and ESL Certificate preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Reading background and dyslexia experience preferred
Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness
Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Guidelines and TEKS for 5-6
Knowledge of rules and regulations for public school
Knowledge of best practices in development in literacy
Knowledge of research-based balanced literacy programs
Experience:
Five years successful classroom teaching experience in literacy required
Classroom experience at both upper elementary levels and secondary preferred
Experience with planning and presenting staff development presentations required
Experience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs
required
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: 60
