Primary Purpose
Provide instructional support services. Assist in front office duties with the receptionist in addition to teachers and students. Preferred bilingual.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements
Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to assist with instruction and working with children
Ability to communicate effectively to parents in the community
General knowledge of standard office equipment
Experience:
Some experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support

Greet and assist students, staff, parents, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

Answer and route phone calls; take messages and provide general information as needed.

Assist the receptionist with check-in/check-out procedures, visitor management, and issuing badges.

Provide coverage at the front desk during busy times, breaks, or absences of the receptionist.

Monitor and maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times.

Assist with attendance processes, student passes, or parent pick-ups as directed.

Support campus communication by relaying messages to teachers, scheduling meetings, or assisting with school announcements.

Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce lesson objectives and support skill development.

Prepare classroom materials, set up learning stations, and assist with instructional resources.

Supervise students during non-instructional times such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess.
Student Management
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying up to 53 pounds; exercising, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Responsibilities require contact with individuals that may include exposure to disruptive behavior.
