Tomaro’s C.H.A.N.G.E. is a nonprofit organization in Claymont and Wilmington, DE. TC provides therapeutic services to adults, youth, and families within the community. We place great attention on our youth and strive to ensure that no young person is left without the care that they need.

TC is looking for 1 qualified, passionate individual to join our team part-time. We would like for the ideal person to have experience working with youth, adults, and families, and who is willing to grow with our organization. Most importantly, our future teammate must have experience working with a diverse population.

The ideal candidate for this position will be an advanced practice registered nurse with a Delaware license, prescription authority, and experience providing care to children, and adolescents with mental health conditions.

Under the limited direction of the Director, the clinical responsibilities include direct psychiatric evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults including diagnosis, administering, or prescribing of medications.

Education, Licensure, & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Delaware license with prescription privileges
  • Board certification (AANP or ANCC)
  • Must be DEA-certified in DE

Professional & Personal Experience:

  • Responsible for delivery of psychiatric services to children & adolescents including psychiatric evaluations for various cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders
  • Have the ability to utilize psychological tests, behavioral observations, family and medical histories, and interview data before administering medication
  • Determines nature and extent of mental disorder and formulates treatment program, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications; evaluates, prescribes, monitors, and manages psychotropic medications
  • Confers with clients, parents/guardians, families, and consulting psychiatrists/physicians to facilitate individualized, case-specific mental health care
  • Maintains timely and accurate psychiatric records
  • Maintains professional licensure and professional competence through appropriate continuing education opportunities
  • Master’s degree in Nursing and completion of courses specific to the Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) track
  • Five years of related experience with at least 2 years of experience prescribing medication for children & adolescents
  • APRN, or appropriate comparable licensure in the state of Delaware, effective clinical training experience to include completion of a psychiatric residency
  • Excellent interviewing and psychological evaluation skills
  • Knowledge of relevant diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of cultural competency and diversity issues
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and the ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
