What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Veterinarian position at Tomah Veterinary Clinic?
Tomah Veterinary Clinic is a three-doctor companion animal practice in the driftless area of west central Wisconsin. We are seeking a full-time associate veterinarian for our well-established and privately owned practice. We have a recently built 7200 sq ft facility with six exam rooms and spacious grounds. We are equipped with digital radiology, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, and pharmacy, tonopen, newly built surgical suite with central oxygen and scavenger, therapeutic laser and up to date dental equipment including digital dental radiology. Our software is Impromed (we are a paper light practice). We have established professional relationships with skilled local mobile surgeons who perform orthopedic procedures and fracture repairs as needed.
Our support staff currently includes CVTs, veterinary assistants, and a fully staffed customer service team. Our team is compassionate, skilled, and fun to work with. Our clinic atmosphere is relaxed, professional, and semi-informal. New graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply. West central Wisconsin is a beautiful location with tons of opportunities for outdoor activities. The Elroy-Sparta State Bike Trail, Kickapoo river, and a variety of hiking, horseback riding, camping, fishing, and hunting spots are all right in our backyard. We are located 45 minutes from La Crosse and Wisconsin Dells, and 90 minutes from Madison if you enjoy city amenities.
Duties:
- Perform comprehensive medical examinations on canine and feline patients
- Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in animals
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed
- Perform surgical procedures, including spays and neuters
- Provide dental care, including cleanings and extractions
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to provide quality care to patients
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Skills:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Valid Wisconsin veterinary license
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of current veterinary practices and procedures
