What are the responsibilities and job description for the PDI Technician/Porter- Tom Wood Powersports Indy position at Tom Wood Inc.?
Tom Wood Powersports Indy is looking for a PDI Technician / Porter to join our team. This individual is responsible for performing pre-delivery inspections and vehicle preparation on new and used powersports units, including motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and personal watercraft. This position also assists in the general operation of the dealership by moving units, cleaning inventory, and maintaining the lot and service areas.
Pay: $15-$18/hour Commission
Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm & Saturday, 10:00am-4:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on new and used vehicles according to manufacturer specifications.
- Assemble and set up new units out of the crate (install handlebars, batteries, wheels, accessories, etc.).
- Ensure all safety checks are performed prior to unit delivery or showroom placement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with overall dealership cleanliness.
- Move powersports units throughout the dealership lot, showroom, and service area as needed.
- Assist with detailing units for showroom display and customer delivery.
- Unload and check in unit deliveries from manufacturers and distributors.
- Support service and sales departments with tasks such as staging units or running errands.
- Report any damage, mechanical issues, or missing parts to the Service Manager immediately.
- Follow all dealership and manufacturer safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of vehicle systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions.
- Punctual, dependable, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership environment, both indoors & outdoors with exposure to weather, engine noise, and shop conditions.
- REQUIRED: Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate powersports vehicles safely.
