- Assist in managing daily deli operations including food preparation, slicing, packaging, and merchandising
- Ensure all products meet freshness, quality, and presentation standards
- Maintain attractive and full service cases and grab-and-go displays
- Execute pricing, signage, and promotional programs
- Support hiring, training, and development of deli associates
- Provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Act as department lead in the absence of the Deli Manager
- Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure prompt service at deli counters
- Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and inquiries
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Maintain a clean, welcoming department appearance
- Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards
- Ensure compliance with all health regulations and company policies
- Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation practices
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory tracking
- Monitor sales trends to maintain proper stock levels and minimize waste
- Control shrink through accurate portioning, rotation, and markdowns
- Ensure accurate pricing and product labeling
- Oversee preparation of deli items including hot foods, salads, and ready-to-eat meals
- Ensure consistency, portion control, and recipe adherence
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness in prep and service areas
- Previous deli, food service, or perishable department experience preferred
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
- Fast-paced retail and food production setting
- Exposure to hot equipment, refrigerated cases, and sharp tools
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
