ASSISTANT PRODUCE MANAGER — DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Department Leadership & Operations
- Assist the Produce Manager in daily department operations, including planning, organizing, and directing workflow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked produce department that meets company merchandising and presentation standards.
- Ensure proper product rotation, quality checks, and timely removal of unsellable product.
- Help manage shrink by monitoring handling, production levels, storage, and merchandising practices.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging customers, answering questions, and offering product knowledge.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support a welcoming, service‑oriented environment for shoppers.
- Assist with merchandising plans, ad sets, and seasonal product placement.
- Help maintain accurate inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and verifying shipments.
- Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and promotional displays.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including:
- Food safety and sanitation
- OSHA and safety regulations
- Temperature logs and storage procedures
- Health department standards
- Maintain safe working conditions by identifying and reporting hazards.
- Help oversee produce department staff, including task delegation and daily work direction.
- Support training of new associates on department standards, safety, quality checks, and customer service expectations.
- Assist with monitoring performance and helping reinforce proper procedures.
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, and production planning as assigned by the Produce Manager.
- Support execution of daily, weekly, and monthly operational checklists.
- Communicate department issues, product needs, and performance concerns to the Produce Manager and Store Director.
- Uphold company standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership.
