Duties and Responsibilities
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils by hand and with a commercial dishwasher
- Load and unload the dish machine, and monitor chemical and water levels
- Sort, stack, and store clean items in their proper locations
- Keep the dish pit stocked and organized, and return clean items to the line promptly during service
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors, mats, and work areas
- Take out trash and recycling, and clean bins and the dumpster area
- Clean kitchen equipment, including prep tables, shelving, sinks, and floor drains
- Receive and put away deliveries when needed
- Help with basic food prep, such as peeling and chopping, when asked
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including local health department standards
- Report broken equipment, spills, or safety hazards to a supervisor right away
- Support cooks, servers, and other team members as needed
Requirements
- Ability to stand for entire shifts (up to 8 hours) and work in a hot, fast-paced, wet environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to [50] lbs and to bend, reach, and stoop repeatedly
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow instructions and work well on a team
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be 18 years or older
- Food handler’s card, or willingness to obtain one within [30] days
Nice to Have
- Previous dishwashing or restaurant experience
- Basic English communication skills for coordinating with the kitchen team
