What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Projects Agile Leader position at Tom McLeod Software Corporation?
Purpose of the Position: The Agile Leader owns the end-to-end agile operating model for the MPact Solution Suite and all new products built on McLeod’s Cloud Domain (single-tenant, multi-customer architecture). They are a balanced, hands-on individual contributor with a focus on driving program execution and flow at scale, elevating leadership and team maturity, and the design – implementation – and continuous evolution of practices and tooling tailored to our domain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead Release Train Engineer for the primary MPact Agile Release Train and any new trains launched in the Cloud Domain.
- Own and facilitate PI Planning, ART Syncs, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and problem-solving events.
- Maintain program-level visibility (program board, risks, dependencies, ROAM) and relentlessly drive impediment removal across teams, architecture, infrastructure, and third parties.
- Coach directors, product leaders, architects, and engineering managers on Lean-Agile mindset, outcome-oriented road mapping, value stream thinking, and flow optimization.
- Design and implement lightweight, fit-for-purpose processes and ceremonies that respect the constraints and opportunities of a single-tenant/multi-customer cloud model.
- Define, measure, and improve train- and portfolio-level flow metrics (predictability, cycle time, deployment frequency, flow efficiency, business value delivered).
- Lead the selection, configuration, and adoption of agile planning and collaboration tools (Jira Align, Advanced Roadmaps, or equivalents).
- Introduce and mature modern practices such as OKRs, value stream mapping, team topologies, built-in quality, and Lean portfolio techniques within MPact & Cloud Domain.
- Act as the primary agile voice for MPact & Cloud Domain in leadership forums, quarterly business reviews, and customer-facing discussions when required.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience applying agile and lean principles in software and/or product environments, required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience successfully performing in various Agile Product Development roles including but not limited to; Release Train Engineer (RTE), Product Owner, Product Manager, and Agile/Lean Coach, required.
- Proven experience with simultaneously running large-scale program execution while coaching senior leaders and designing improved ways of working, required.
- Demonstrated experience improving flow metrics and delivery predictability in complex, regulated, or multi-tenant environments, required.
- Experience owning agile/lean process design and maturity with a single product portfolio or business unit, preferred.
- Working knowledge of military, transportation, logistics, supply chain software, or transportation management software (TMS), preferred.
- Working knowledge of Lean Portfolio Management, OKRs, value stream funding, and enabling team topologies, preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to troubleshoot McLeod technical issues, required.
- Thorough knowledge of modern cloud-engineering practices (i.e., CI/CD, observability, feature flags, contract testing, trunk-based development).
- Direct experience with enterprise agile tooling (Jira, Aha!, Align, Azure DevOps, etc.), preferred.
- Experience and/or exposure to business intelligence tools. (i.e., Power BI, Tableau), preferred.
