TITLE: Director of Operations

 

QUALIFICATION GUIDE:

 

Knowledge of:

 

  • Knowledge and experience in building or construction trades, preventative maintenance, custodial and facilities use schedules, transportation and warehouse operations.
  • Facilities Use and Rental to include scheduling coordination with building administrators and community organizations.
  • Landscape and school/athletic field maintenance.
  • Custodial maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Energy management and utilities conservation measures.
  • Arizona building codes, building health and safety, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Arizona School Facilities Board building renewal grants and SFB minimum standards.
  • Budget process and fiscal management.
  • Organizational structure and design.
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.

Ability to:

 

  • Communicate effectively to express ideas and provide information in concise, and understandable verbal and written forms, to include presentations to administration and the governing board.
  • Effectively communicate with tact, discretion, and courtesy in dealings with superiors, administrators, subordinates, and the general public.
  • Manage and supervise a diverse workforce, effectively implementing recognition, evaluation systems, and discipline to maintain employee confidence and morale.
  • Direct all aspects of operations services in support of the mission, vision, and goals of the district.

Experience:

 

Four years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience, including two years of administrative management and supervisory experience.

 

Education:

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, finance, accounting or closely related field or any combination of professional training or experience equivalent to four years in financial analysis, or in fields directly related to position requirements.

 

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Business Services

 

SUPERVISES: Transportation, Warehouse, Maintenance and Facilities

 

JOB GOAL:

 

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Business Services to develop, plan, implement evaluate and administer major operational functions and programs including transportation, warehouse, maintenance, custodial, facility operations, construction, cross walks and safety.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Directs all aspects of maintenance and operations services in support of the mission, vision, and goals of the district.
  2. Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates maintenance services and operations support activities with school site administrators and/or program directors.
  3. Provides for regular inspection and evaluation of district facilities; prepares long and short range capital plans for maintenance, repair, and site improvement projects.
  4. Consults with architects, technical consultants, and contractors to develop projects, work plans, and cost estimates.
  5. Works in combination with the Executive Director of Business Services to provide supporting services and assistance during the planning, construction, and completion phases of new construction, facilities remodeling, and facility improvement projects.
  6. Prepares and administers public works and field service contracts for the maintenance and repair of district facilities.
  7. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local mandates governing environmental protection, hazards to buildings and building occupants, public safety, and access compliance.
  8. Prepares general and capital fund budget proposals, applications and closing documents for Arizona School Facility Board building renewal grants, and other specialized funds related to facilities and facilities support activities such as bonds and Capital Overrides.
  9. Directs and manages departmental expenditures and ensures prudent fiscal management in the application of assigned funds.
  10. Assists in department employee selection and evaluates assigned personnel.
  11. Participates in facilities planning. Attends construction and budget meetings, and other meetings as requested.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Twelve months. Administrative Salary Placement Schedule, Column IV, in accordance with Board policy.

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Governing Board’s Policy on evaluation of classified exempt personnel.

 

Salary : $90,834 - $108,555
