Position Summary
The Interpreter for Educational Meetings plays a critical role in ensuring equitable access to educational processes for families whose primary language is Spanish. This position supports communication between school staff and parents during key educational
meetings, enabling meaningful participation and informed decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
The district will ensure that qualified interpreters are available to provide interpreting
services during Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, disciplinary hearings, health-related meetings, and other
educational meetings of significance.
Interpreter services are provided to ensure that parents and guardians have full access to the information presented, can meaningfully participate in discussions, and serve as active and informed members of their child’s educational team.
Interpreters will facilitate accurate, impartial, and confidential communication between school staff and parents, supporting equitable access to all aspects of the educational and disciplinary process.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is a certified special education educator who is fluent in Spanish.
