Position Overview
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Construction Auditor to join its Internal Audit Department's Construction Cost Audit Division. This role involves performing construction audits on federally funded projects, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and monitoring costs related to federal funding (grants and loans). The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a requirement to work on-site four days per week starting September 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct construction audits on federally funded projects to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Monitor and analyze costs related to federal funding, including grants and loans.
- Evaluate internal controls and ensure operations align with existing policies and procedures.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to management.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
- Perform minimal fieldwork as necessary to verify project compliance and progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in construction auditing, specifically on federally funded projects.
- Strong knowledge of federal compliance requirements related to construction projects.
- Proficiency in auditing standards and practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
Work Environment
- Primary work location is One PATH Plaza, Jersey City, NJ.
- Hybrid work arrangement available; however, starting September 2025, four days per week on-site are required.
- Minimal fieldwork may be necessary.
