Essential Job Functions
Required competencies include strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, a professional disposition, observational skills, the ability to work with diverse populations, knowledge of security policies, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, prior security experience, and potentially relevant licenses such as a New York State Security Guard License, Fire Guard License, F-80 and or F02 certification. The role also requires flexible availability.
Salary: HOURLY $19.99 per hour

Essential Job Functions
- Maintain security and order: Patrolling premises and common areas, monitoring entrances and sitting at front desk managing client access and exits, and conducting regular rounds. They also observe client behavior and encourage compliance with policies.
- Incident response and documentation: Responding to incidents and emergencies, de-escalating situations, providing assistance in emergencies, alerting staff to clients in crisis, and thoroughly documenting all incidents and suspicious activity. Maintaining and updating the hourly entrance in the security log and preserving confidentiality are a must as well as a professional approach with clients at all times.
- Support and collaboration: Working with other shelter staff, assisting visitors and clients, performing administrative duties such as monitoring video surveillance, collaborating with staff, and participating in required training.
