Merchandise Manager (Full-Time)

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has been educating, inspiring, and providing enjoyment to our community for over 100 years. Our Merchandise department is currently seeking full-time Merchandise Manager who is passionate about learning new things and giving our guests the best possible experience. This role is responsible for facilitating and supervising daily operations of all store locations including ecommerce. They will delegate and oversee the completion of daily task lists at all store locations prioritizing, communicating and assigning the daily tasks to accomplish department’s planned goals and ensure adequate merchandise inventory and supply levels. In addition, this individual may manage a group of full-time/ part-time supervisors, team leaders and all part-time merchandise personnel. The ideal candidate is mission driven; while communicating expectations to staff, promoting a positive environment, supporting/training team members to achieve excellent experience for our guests.
This position reports to the Director of Merchandise, is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires a 40-hour work week.
Minimum Training & Qualifications:
- Must be 18 Years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management or other related business field with three to five years of retail management or experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Must have knowledge of accounting functions, inventory control, experience with Point-of-Sale software, and effective communication skills to work with vendors and internal and external customers.
- Must have the physical ability to lift 25 pounds, work on your feet, and be able to walk the Zoo grounds for several hours at a time.
- Individuals may also be exposed to inclement weather conditions such as heat in the summer or low temperatures in the winter at the outdoor stands.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
