Responsibilities
- Translate documents, reports, contracts, and other materials from Japanese to English and English to Japanese with precision and cultural awareness
- Proofread and edit translated content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client specifications
- Utilize translation software such as SDL Trados Studio to streamline workflows and maintain terminology consistency
- Interpret spoken language during meetings, conferences, or legal proceedings with professionalism and clarity
- Conduct transcription of audio or video recordings in both Japanese and English languages
- Apply specialized knowledge of legal terminology for legal translation services, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Collaborate with clients and team members to clarify project requirements and deliver high-quality results within deadlines
Qualifications
- Multilingual proficiency with fluency in Japanese and English; additional foreign language skills are a plus
- Proven experience as a bilingual linguist or translator, particularly in legal or technical translation services
- Strong editing, proofreading, and writing skills with an eye for detail
- Familiarity with translation tools such as SDL Trados Studio or similar CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) software
- Deep understanding of linguistics principles and translation best practices
- Knowledge of legal terminology and experience providing legal translation services is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to confidentiality in all tasks
