Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and consistency, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work station in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Source fresh ingredients daily, ensuring quality and freshness for all sushi offerings
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate service flow and ensure timely delivery of dishes
- Innovate new sushi recipes and menu items to keep offerings exciting and aligned with current culinary trends
- Educate team members on proper sushi preparation techniques and presentation standards
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages
- Uphold high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene throughout all stages of food preparation
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or sushi bar environment
- Extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience with menu development, plating presentation, and culinary innovation is highly desirable
- Familiarity with working in diverse team settings and providing excellent customer service
