Borger Production - Process Engineer

The role of Process Engineer ensures that mechanical and production processes performed in all areas of the plant are influenced by sound engineering principles in an effort to create the most efficient process/output. This role is crucial in keeping the plant processes innovative, cost effective, and production efficient. This role will be a champion of continually improving on quality and efficiency with a heavy emphasis on the minimization of plant disruptions.Essential Functions · Operations· Design, communicate, review and evaluate any suggested modifications to current plant process to ensure constant improvement and product superiority · Evaluate and ensure quality assurance and process efficiencies by documenting and reviewing the following samples while documenting any potential issues: · Gas · Carbon Black/Pellet Quality · Track and document regularly rate checks, chart modifications, bag filter pressure to identify potential issues · Maintenance· Collaborate with the Maintenance Department/Maintenance Superintendent to improve current maintenance methods and procedures to reduce the need for machine maintenance; improve the quality of preventative/predictive maintenance and recommend improved cleanup methods and materials · Produce drawings/sketches for system modification or ship fabrication using solid engineering principles · Play an integral role in the vendor/contractor selection process by evaluating contract bids, vetting potential vendors as well as reviewing contract recommendation for plant appropriateness · Prepare the following technical documentation: · Instrument calibration information · New equipment installation information sheets · New equipment installation preventative maintenance manual revisions Provide cost analysis for insulation and painting repairs through the plant · ShippingWork collaboratively with Shipping Superintendent and Shipping Department in the following areas: Hopper Car/railroad inspections and provide recommendations for maintenance and performance of machinery Communicate pertinent information regarding shipping equipment and warehouse processes · Contract FabricationsAct as a liaison between the plant and outside contractors or shop fabricators to ensure superior work quality, continuity of an established and efficient processDesign, draft and collaboratively deliver project specifications regarding contract labor, shop fabrication and plant equipment to third parties Inspect and ensure contract labor was executed accurately, properly and to documented specifications Maintain progressive knowledge of best practices, etc in an effort to continually improve plant operations, maintenance and shipping procedures Proactively research and review documented process improvements industry wide and draft a cost analysis of the implementation of newer technology/equipment in the plant Perform special projects, yearly turnaround process, etc. assigned by the Technical/Production Superintendent Maintain a repository of plant schematics; equipment data books and files and reference materials to ensure it is up to date and readily accessible for review and audit Continually provide suggestions/recommendations in the subject of improving energy consumption, creation and conservation Other duties as assigned by supervisorRequired Education and Experience · Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related discipline· 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment· Exemplary verbal and written communication skills used to influence efficiencies and initiate change· Skilled using various design software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD); AutoCAD; or Mathcad· Familiar with contract bidding process and negotiations· Strong ability to define and solve technical problems with sound analytical tactics· Demonstrated ability to manage various projects simultaneously to timely completion
