ROLE:

Facilitators work with students and volunteers, guiding homework help, academic and enrichment activities, physical fitness activities and games, leadership training, snack, and other activities as directed by the Site Coordinator. Facilitators participate in preparation and training with the commitment to learn and follow strategies as defined in the national Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI).

 

HOURS & WORK SCHEDULE

Weekly Hours: 17 hours during the school year; up to 30 hours during the 6-week summer program.

FTE: Part-Time (variable schedule)

Classification: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Schedule will vary based on program needs during the academic year and summer program. Training may be scheduled prior to the start of the school year and during school breaks as needed. Evening, weekend, and occasional out-of-town travel may be required based on program and organizational needs.

 

COMPENSATION

Candidates hired for this position can expect a wage of $22.05 – $23.05 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Total annual salary range for this position is $45,868.78 – $54,438.38, as applicable.
Eligible for paid leave and IRA retirement plan in accordance with organizational policy.

 

WORK LOCATION

The Club House program operates at multiple sites within the North Thurston School District. Primary work locations may include Chinook Middle School, Lydia Hawk Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, and other designated program sites.

Staff may be assigned to a primary location but may also be required to support other program sites as needed. Reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations, including the TOGETHER! office, is required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide General supervision of students during program, including mealtime, homework, enrichment, recreation, and transitions.
  2. Plan and facilitate project-based academic and recreational activities in alignment with youth program quality guidelines with support from Site Coordinator.
  3. Assess students’ needs and interests to design effective programming.
  4. Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly program trainings.
  5. Assist in developing students’ cognitive capacity, increasing academic skill development and respect for learning, foster students’ self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction.
  6. Provide direction and encouragement to volunteers and community partners.
  7. Use YPQI based methods of positive behavior management with guidance from Facilitators and Site Coordinator.
  8. Participate in youth program quality self-assessment, goal-setting, and other youth program quality meetings and tasks.
  9. Serve as positive conflict mediator and follow procedures for reporting incidents.
  10. Always maintain professional conduct.
  11. Read and comply with policies adopted by TOGETHER!’s Board of Directors.
  12. Read and comply with TOGETHER! employee handbook.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



Education

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and/or training in child development.

Professional Experience

At least two years of volunteer and/or professional experience working with young people.

Licensure & Certifications

Current First Aid and/or CPR certification, to be completed within 90 days of hire.

Valid Driver’s License

Bilingual - Spanish/English.
