The Senior IT Operations Engineer will be responsible for maintaining core IT platforms, supporting end users, improving operational workflows, and strengthening security and reliability across the technology environment. This person will often serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues while also driving long-term improvements through automation, documentation, and process refinement.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and supporting people in a fast-moving, remote-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Support
- Partner with internal leadership and external vendors to deliver responsive, high-quality IT support.
- Serve as an escalation point for technical issues, troubleshooting systems and coordinating resolutions.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring timely setup and secure removal of access.
Systems & Platform Management
- Administer and improve core platforms including identity management, productivity tools, and endpoint environments.
- Manage device provisioning and security for macOS and Windows systems using modern MDM solutions.
- Maintain secure, reliable system baselines across cloud and endpoint environments.
Monitoring, Reliability & Security
- Implement and tune monitoring and alerting across endpoints and core services to surface meaningful signals.
- Ensure backup strategies are in place, tested, and documented with clear recovery procedures.
- Support identity and access management best practices, data protection, and compliance initiatives.
Projects & Documentation
- Execute technology projects in partnership with IT leadership, contributing operational expertise and delivery support.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, procedures, and policies to support consistent and secure operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a similar hands-on technical role
- Strong experience supporting cloud-based SaaS environments and productivity platforms
- Working knowledge of tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Okta, or similar platforms
- Experience managing endpoint devices via MDM tools (e.g., Jamf, Kandji, Intune)
- Familiarity with IT security fundamentals, identity and access management, and data protection practices
- Comfort with scripting or automation to improve operational efficiency
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams in a remote environment
- Experience supporting compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR) is a plus
