Summary
The Production Technician supports the safe, efficient, and consistent production of Tofurky products. This role includes tasks across sealing, peeling, mixing/cooking, packaging, and general production support. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring equipment, handling materials, ensuring food safety and quality, maintaining accurate documentation, and keeping work areas clean and safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, start up, and shut down production equipment (mixers, ovens, forming equipment, packaging machines, conveyors, etc.).
- Perform production activities include:
- Seal: Remove casing, slicing, move racks, set up Multivac, handle intermediate products.
- Peel/seal: Remove casings, move racks, wash totes, handle intermediate products.
- Mix/Cook: Weigh ingredients, mix and form raw materials, bake/cook products.
- Packaging: Handle, sleeve/bag, carton, pack, palletize, and X-ray products.
- Attach appropriate labels, tags, and lot/batch numbers to products and packages.
- Perform quality checks and complete all required processing and quality documentation.
- Load/unload raw materials and finished goods.
- Follow all safety rules, including PPE use, chemical handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment (sweeping, mopping, cleaning machinery, scraping waste, washing equipment).
- Assist with general production and support tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor.
Education & Experience
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Prior sanitation, janitorial, or food processing experience.
- Experience working with cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus.
