Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental records to develop personalized care plans.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety measures are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health habits.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits, treatment plans, and medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively.
- Experience with chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
