MISSION
Toco Hills Community Alliance (THCA) is a community working together to help our Atlanta area neighbors in need, providing free groceries, resources, and hot lunches to those with low and no income. We have both a diverse volunteer base and serve a wide diversity of people in the metro Atlanta area.
DESCRIPTION
The Operations Assistant is responsible for providing support to ensure efficient and effective operations. This is a non-exempt, part-time position of 20 hours per week that reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are usually 6 hours during the day on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and a few hours on Friday morning.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist with receiving, recording, and sorting deliveries of food and other items intended for distribution to low and no income neighbors.
- Setting up equipment and supplies for distribution of food to neighbors, ensuring the distribution area is sufficiently prepared to distribute, and is stored properly after distribution.
- Setting up equipment and supplies for volunteer tasks, ensuring that sufficient daily supplies and equipment are prepared and put up.
- Assist with maintaining a neat, safe, and caring environment for staff, volunteers, and neighbors.
- Coordinate closely with Operations Coordinator, Operations Manager, Program Manager, and Executive Director.
- Assist with and support all efforts to uphold civil rights of all neighbors, volunteers, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Proficient with email, word processing, and basic spreadsheets.
- Good written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Ability to be somewhat flexible with work hours that include working a limited number of evenings as required.
- Ability to work within a multicultural environment.
- Reliability and dependability.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and withstand varied weather conditions.
