What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Assistant position at TOBOSA DEVELOPMENT SERVICES?
Tobosa Developmental Services is seeking a Nursing Assistant to promote optimal health and safety of people supported by Tobosa by assisting nursing staff. Building mutually productive relationships with people supported by Tobosa and co-workers is a key function of this position.
SUPERVISION: Works under the supervision of the Head Nurse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Make medical appointments and transport people, as necessary.
· Ensure each person’s medical appointment is covered by the current insurance carrier.
· Share medical information with direct care staff as appropriate to ensure quality care for the person supported.
· Advocate for people supported by Tobosa during medical appointments.
· Treat minor injuries and assist with self-administration of medication under the direction of program nurses.
· Perform basic nursing tasks under the direction of a nurse, such as taking temperature, pulse, blood pressure, etc.
· Maintain medical information in people’s files that is accurate and up-to-date.
· Perform clerical duties, as assigned.
· Make home visits as assigned.
· Assist in other activities to support the operation of the Health & Safety Program.
· Be available for on-call as assigned with nurse back-up.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. New Mexico driver’s license
3. CPR and First Aid certified within 2 months of hire
4. Experience in developmental disabilities field preferred
5. Interest in and desire to work with people with developmental disabilities
6. Must be physically able to perform duties
