Facilities Maintenance-Part-time

Tobosa Developmental Services is looking for a part-time maintenance staff member to to maintain, repair, and upkeep facilities.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Treat people supported by Tobosa with dignity and respect, especially in the areas of confidentiality, choice, privacy, positive training methodology, cultural sensitivity, age appropriateness, and ego development.

2.      Reference, understand, and follow all applicable Tobosa policies related to this position.

3.      Arrive at work promptly, work schedules assigned, and work as a member of a team in order to assure positive outcomes for participants.

4.      Complete work on a timely basis assuring deadlines are met and work is completed by the time required.

5.      Communicate in an open, honest, respectful manner on an ongoing basis with co-workers and supervisors regarding relevant person, program, and employment issues.

6.      Accept supervisory guidance and direction and use feedback constructively.

7.      Follow health and safety policy and procedures, especially those related to this position.  Remain alert for health and safety concerns/problems and immediately report known problems/infractions for remediation. The safety of people supported by Tobosa is of utmost concern.

8.      Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Operates mechanical equipment while performing exterior and interior maintenance as necessary.

2.         Performs maintenance tasks in landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical components in Tobosa's facilities.

3.         Checks fire extinguishers on a consistent basis.

4.         Performs minor repair to plumbing, electrical circuits, heating, air conditioning units, windows, floors and other portions of Tobosa facilities to ensure safe and secure environment.

5.         Checks all lighting in all Tobosa facilities and replaces bulbs and fixtures as necessary to meet adequate lighting needs in Tobosa facilities.

6.         Inspects and services all vehicles to ensure safe operating condition.  Reports any discrepancies to program director.

7.         Provides technical maintenance assistance to staff in other areas as requested.

8.         Must be able to lift and carry at least 65 pounds for a short distance.

9.         May provide direct input to the immediate supervisor regarding program problems and obstacles in order to provide quality services and improve the program.

10.  Performs other related duties as directed by the Program Director.  Meets staff standards as stated in the Tobosa personnel Manual.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         High School diploma or GED.

2.         Ability to read, write and follow both oral and written instructions. 

3.         Maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. 

4.         Must have a mechanical aptitude. 

5.         Six months experience required.

6.         Must be physically able to perform job duties typical to this position.
