Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students in an elementary school setting. The Media Paraprofessional will work closely with the Media Specialist, teachers and other staff to provide assistance to students in the media center. This position is benefit eligible working 8:00-4:00pm, Mon-Fri, follows VEA calendar working days, approximately 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Operate circulation desk assisting students and staff in locating, selecting and using media center materials.- Assist the Media Specialist in preparing and presenting instructional materials.
- Assist with clerical duties such as inventory, collection maintenance, processing new library resources and compiling records/reports.
- Other duties as assigned by Media Specialist and/or building principal.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required.- An associate degree or higher in education, or passing ETS Paraprofessional exam score, is preferred.
- Must be competent in math skills, have a good attendance record and possess good decision-making skills.
- Flexible in work assignments.
- Previous experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must pass background checks and comply with state and district requirements for working with students.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move about the building and campus to assist students.- May require and employee to lift and/or move heavy objects.
