What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machine Setup/Operator (Day and Evening Shift) position at TNT Aerospace?
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented CNC Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC milling machines to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, performing machine setups, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and other production documents.
- Load and edit CNC programs as needed to ensure efficient and accurate production.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Change tooling, perform offsets, and troubleshoot minor machining or equipment issues.
- Maintain quality standards by ensuring parts meet dimensional and tolerance requirements.
- Follow AS9100 quality management system requirements, including documentation, traceability, inspection, and process compliance to ensure product quality and customer requirements are met.
- Follow all safety procedures and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues as needed.
- Work closely with team members to meet production schedules and continuous improvement goals.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC controls.
- Understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and shop math.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machining and equipment issues.
- Experience working in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment or familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
- Understanding of quality documentation, traceability, inspection requirements, and continuous improvement practices in an AS9100 environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following company safety policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as SolidWorks or Mastercam.
- Experience machining a variety of materials in a production environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate machinery and measuring equipment.
