Role Description This is a contingency-only Trial Lawyer role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing a combination of in-office and work-from-home days. The Trial Lawyer will handle a varied litigation docket, including case assessment, legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and preparing discovery responses. Day-to-day responsibilities include taking and defending depositions, developing case strategy, managing deadlines, and coordinating with clients, co-counsel, and internal teams. The role involves representing clients in hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials, including examining witnesses and presenting arguments in court. The Trial Lawyer will also provide practical legal advice and risk assessments, maintain organized case files, and ensure compliance with all procedural and ethical requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Medical Malpractice Law with experience analyzing complex Legal Issues and applying relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, business-oriented Legal Advice to clients and stakeholders.
- Substantial experience handling Trials, including trial preparation, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.
- Proficiency with Depositions, including taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, and developing testimony strategy.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license in good standing with the California Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).
- Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Experience interfacing with corporate and/or institutional clients; background with large or international clients is a plus.
- High standards of professional ethics, sound judgment, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive client service.
