We are seeking Railroad Track Laborers to perform essential tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of railroad tracks. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments. You will handle a variety of tasks and tools essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of railroad operations.
Key responsibilities may include:
Track maintenance, repair and Installation; repair and rebuild railroad track as well as perform maintenance by shoveling rock, pulling spikes, cutting, grinding, or drilling rail. Remove debris, snow or ice from rail and track components.
Maintain Track-bed which includes manually compressing ballast, shoveling and moving rock, remove/install ties and replacing, cutting, and adjusting rail in addition to lifting and carrying heavy materials and equipment, with and without assistance.
Operate Equipment which includes using power hand tools such as electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic as well as non-powered hand tools.
- Examples of tools used: drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, grinders, shovels, picks, mauls, sledgehammers and saws.
Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, wind and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
Qualifications Required
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening (including THC) within 2 days of interview
- Must possess a valid driver’s license & reliable daily transportation to Bartonville, IL
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Demonstrate the Physical Stamina to work Hard Physical Labor for 8-10 hours, 5-8 days in a row.
- Demonstrated experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat, rain, sleet, snow, and wind (e.g., professional, personal, or volunteer experience)
- Familiarity with working in construction-like environments (e.g., gained through professional, personal, or volunteer experience)
- Flexibility to work on-call, overtime, and various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and 7 days a week
- Travel is required to (and remain at) job sites for extended periods, for days or sometimes weeks at a time. Travel is in a company vehicle.
- Reliable phone for contact & scheduling
- Steel-toe boots (lace up & above ankle)
- No criminal indictments or convictions in the last 7 years
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $20/hour
- Health, Dental, and Vision insurance coverages
- Covered Hotel Expense
- Per Diem pay of $50 per night away from home.
- 40 weekly hours
