Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, adhering to all safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across OTR driving routes.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securing and compliance with safety standards.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following strict hazardous materials regulations.
- Deliver freight efficiently to various destinations while maintaining excellent customer service and communication.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues and proper load securement.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and compliance documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across diverse terrains.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and automobile transportation methods.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures for manual transmission vehicles.
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using manual handling techniques; experience with truck loading and unloading is preferred.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, hazard awareness, and defensive driving strategies.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling processes to ensure proper load securing and compliance during transit.
