Role Description The Psychiatric Prescriber is responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management to clients in an outpatient setting. Day-to-day tasks include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and adjusting treatment plans, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, and documenting clinical encounters in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The prescriber will collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, and other members of the care team to support integrated, client-centered care. This is a part-time hybrid role based in Hackensack, NJ, with a combination of onsite appointments and some work-from-home responsibilities for telehealth visits and documentation.
Qualifications
- Licensure and education: Active and unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant with psychiatric certification, or Psychiatrist; graduation from an accredited program; DEA registration or eligibility.
- Clinical expertise: Demonstrated experience in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and psychopharmacology across common mental health conditions (e.g., mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders).
- Care delivery skills: Ability to conduct thorough assessments, create individualized treatment plans, and provide follow-up care using both in-person and telehealth modalities.
- Communication and collaboration: Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and engage clients and families in shared decision-making.
- Professional competencies: Commitment to ethically grounded, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care; reliability in managing part-time hybrid scheduling and maintaining confidentiality and compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Preferred experience: Prior outpatient or community mental health experience; familiarity with electronic health record systems; bilingual skills are a plus.
