ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to established policies and procedures for maintaining a sanitary, safe working environment for employees and food production; including but not limited to proper personal hygiene and universal precautions to protect self and all who come in contact with products prepared in the department.
- Performs simple food preparation, including but not limited to sorting, washing, peeling and cutting fresh fruits and vegetables. Arranges food for serving in an attractive manner. Responsible for constant sanitation, organization, and proper food handling. Keeps a simple record such as food temperature, amount of leftovers, diet cards to provide accountability and control of the food prepared.
- Greet and speak to customers with enthusiasm and friendliness; answers guest questions about food, beverages, and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner.
- Receives food orders, keeps them organized and ensures orders are complete in an efficient and timely manner; demonstrates knowledge of products to guide guests experience and provide accurate sale of food items. Communicates with Cook, Nutritive Service Workers and Cashier staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Serves food at the food counter and/or catered function; use control portion sizes to meet production standards; replenishes and occasionally inventories food items and supplies in a cafeteria serving line, food bar or storeroom.
- Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments, and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on a serving line. Carry trays for ambulatory and wheelchair patients; when requested or as needed removes dishes and trays from tables after meals.
- Operates, break down, and cleans all electrical equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators. May on occasion separate food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware in the dishwashing area; load and operate dishwashers and silverware washing machines; and store sanitized dishes, glasses, and silverware.
- Performs cleaning tasks in the food service area such as sweeping and mopping kitchen floors, cleaning windows and washing walls, and cleaning and sanitizing trashcans.
- Reports to work as scheduled, in uniform, and ready to be in position.
- Occasionally acts as Cafeteria Cashier; operates cash register to collect money and make change for customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Six (6) months of direct work experience
Education:
High School Diploma or HSE Valid Navajo Nation Food Handler’s Permit
