Job Overview
Track Laborer – Railroad Construction & Maintenance
TM Track Services, LLC is hiring Track Laborers to join our growing railroad construction and maintenance team. We are looking for hardworking, dependable individuals who take pride in their work, put safety first, and are willing to work in a demanding outdoor environment.
This is a hands-on railroad construction position involving track maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and new construction at industrial and commercial facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install and replace railroad ties
- Remove and install rail, joint bars, bolts, spikes, anchors, and other track materials
- Spike and gauge railroad track
- Assist with turnout and switch installation and repairs
- Perform ballast work, track surfacing, lining, and general track maintenance
- Operate hand tools, power tools, hydraulic tools, and railroad-specific equipment
- Assist equipment operators during excavation and track construction
- Load, unload, and move railroad materials
- Perform general labor including shoveling, lifting, digging, and cleanup
- Participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings
- Inspect tools and equipment before use
- Follow TM Track Services safety policies and customer/site requirements
- Maintain a clean and professional jobsite
- Work as part of a crew to complete projects safely and efficiently
Job Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass required drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and railroad operations
- Ability to lift approximately 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, walk on uneven terrain, and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in Texas heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions
- Must be willing to work early mornings, long shifts, nights, weekends, and emergency callouts when required
- Must be willing to travel and stay out of town when projects require it
- Must report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance
- Must follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew
Preferred Experience
Railroad experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- Railroad track construction or maintenance
- Construction
- Excavation
- Heavy equipment
- Welding
- Concrete
- Utility work
- Oilfield or industrial construction
- Landscaping or other physically demanding outdoor work
