Job Description:
The Accountant will work closely with the finance team to support the organization’s financial goals and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional who can manage multiple priorities and contribute to continuous improvement within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation.
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger for multiple entities.
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor daily cash activity.
- Initiate and record electronic payments (ACH/EFT) and ensure proper cash controls.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
- Prepare and file fuel tax returns (IFTA) and other industry-related tax filings.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, including tracking and maintaining records.
- Support the preparation of financial reports, metrics, and analysis to provide insight to management.
- Assist with quarterly and annual compliance reporting, including IRS filings as applicable.
- Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and process alignment.
- Provide backup support for accounts receivable, billing, and cash application as needed.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger functions and month-end close processes in an accrual-based environment.
- Experience with account reconciliations, financial reporting, and tax filings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Experience in transportation or logistics industry is a plus.
