The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried employees across multiple U.S. states. This role assists with timekeeping validation, garnishment processing, off-cycle payments, employee inquiries, and payroll tax setup under the guidance of senior payroll leadership. This position requires strong attention to detail, deadline management, and a working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices in a manufacturing environment.
What will you be doing:

Process weekly payroll for hourly plant employees.

Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried and remote employees.

Review payroll reports for accuracy before final approval

Validate time imports from the time & attendance system.

Review timecards for missing punches and pay code accuracy.

Communicate with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.

Ensure approved time is submitted by payroll deadlines.

Set up and process wage garnishments.

Monitor deduction limits and required documentation.

Coordinate remittance information with payroll tax/vendor partners.

Maintain accurate garnishment records.

Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.

Document all adjustments in accordance with internal controls.

Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely, professional manner.

Assist employees with direct deposit changes and tax form updates.

Escalate complex payroll or tax issues to VP of People Operations.

Assist with tax setup for employees working in new states.

Ensure accurate state and local withholding configuration.

Support year-end processing (W-2 preparation and reconciliations).

Maintain confidentiality of payroll information at all times.
Who you are and why you're right for us:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.

2–4 years of payroll processing experience.

Experience with multi-state payroll preferred.

Manufacturing or hourly workforce experience is a plus.
