The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD has an immediate opening for a full-time IEP Coordinator/School Support Specialist for the high school program. The Katherine Thomas High School is a private special education school that services students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities, and autism. This is a 12-month position. EOE

Annual salary range is $80,000 - $93,000, depending on experience

This Position Is Responsible For

• Overseeing the development and the coordination of the IEP/DPG for students grades 9-12
• Liaising with funding sources and parents, scheduling and participating in formal IEP and related meetings,
• Providing training, monitoring and guidance to staff on developing, writing, implementing, documenting and recording the IEP/DPG
• Serving as a key role by collaborating with Local Education Agency representatives during the IEP process
• Implementing relevant staff development
  
  

Required Experience

Requirements for the School Support Specialist:

• Must have a valid teaching certificate in special education, preferable a masters degree, and 3 years of teaching experience
• Experience with a variety of formal and informal assessment measures and excellent analysis and interpretation skills to assist staff with translating test results into measurable educational goals and objectives
• Outstanding organization and written expression abilities are essential
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills are also necessary
