Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team as an independent contractor (1099), providing specialized nursing care for a G-tube patient on a per diem basis. We are seeking an LVN with strong clinical experience in enteral feeding and home care support. This role includes flexible scheduling and is ideal for an LVN looking for per diem opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
G-Tube Care:
- Perform routine G-tube care, including site cleaning, dressing changes, and monitoring for signs of infection or complications
- Administer enteral feedings and flushes per physician orders
- Ensure proper function and placement of the feeding tube
- Troubleshoot feeding tube concerns and respond promptly to changes
Patient Care:
- Assist with activities of daily living such as hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Administer prescribed medications, including via G-tube
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any concerns to the healthcare team
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records
- Document all care provided and patient condition updates
- Communicate effectively with the care team to ensure continuity
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers for a patient weighing approximately 150 lbs
- Able to perform hands-on care, including repositioning and transfer support
- Physically able to meet the demands of in-home patient care
Patient & Family Support:
- Educate patient and family on G-tube care and home management
- Provide emotional support and maintain a safe, comfortable environment
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current LVN license in California
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in G-tube care and enteral feeding as an LVN
- Skills: Ability to provide independent home care support as an LVN with strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Certifications: Current BLS/CPR required
