What are the responsibilities and job description for the IVIG Infusion Nurse (Registered Nurse) Per Diem-Independent Contractor position at TLC Nurse Solutions?
We are looking for experienced and reliable Independent Contractor IVIG Infusion Nurses (Registered Nurses) to provide patients with IVIG infusion therapy in their homes.
Current ongoing opportunity: We currently have one established patient who receives Octagam 30 g IV daily for 2 consecutive days every 2 weeks, providing consistent recurring visits for the right nurse. Additional recurring IVIG referrals are received throughout California as patient needs arise.
As an independent contractor RN, you will be responsible for performing health assessments, starting IVs, monitoring patients during infusions, and providing patient education. You will also act as a liaison between the infusion company and patients/families, communicating specific patient needs or findings to promote continuity of care. The ideal candidate should be flexible, adaptable, and available to work some weekend days as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Administer IVIG therapy to patients in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Assess patients' health status and response to IVIG therapy and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions or complications during infusions and provide appropriate interventions.
- Provide patient education regarding IVIG therapy, medication administration, potential side effects, and self-care techniques.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing professional development to enhance clinical competence.
Requirements:
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one year of infusion nursing experience, with a strong emphasis on IVIG administration.
- Knowledge of IVIG therapy, including indications, contraindications, dosage calculations, and infusion techniques.
- Ability to assess, monitor, and manage patients receiving IVIG therapy, including recognizing and managing adverse reactions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to patient homes as needed.
- Professional liability insurance.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
