Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, familiarity with heavy machinery, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Diesel Mechanic will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of our fleet and industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
- Repair and replace transmissions, hydraulics, suspension components, shocks & struts, brakes, and air brake systems
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently
- Conduct alignment procedures to ensure proper vehicle operation
- Maintain detailed service records and document repairs accurately
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of equipment during repairs or upgrades
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment repair background preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, transmissions, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and welding techniques
- Hands-on experience with heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm equipment
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools
- Mechanical knowledge of hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, alignment procedures, shocks & struts
- Experience working with Cummins or similar heavy equipment brands is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred
