Director of Nursing (DON) – Home Health & Hospice Carlsbad, NM

We are seeking a strong, experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations for our growing home health and hospice agency. This is a leadership role for someone who is confident in both patient care and regulatory compliance, and who can support and guide a multidisciplinary team. This position plays a key role in ensuring quality patient care, staff oversight, and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily clinical operations for home health and hospice services
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, state, and federal regulations
- Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, HHAs)
- Review documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Participate in QAPI/QAPI initiatives and performance improvement
- Coordinate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members
- Assist with staff education, training, and competency validation
- Support admissions, recertifications, and care planning as needed
Requirements:
- Active RN license (New Mexico or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year experience in home health and/or hospice (required)
- Strong knowledge of Medicare regulations and Conditions of Participation (CoPs)
- Experience with clinical documentation and compliance standards
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred* Strong organizational and communication skills

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
