Key Responsibilities:
· Help implement play-based daily lesson plans through hands-on activities
· Work with a teaching team to provide a well-maintained, developmentally appropriate classroom based on each child's needs
· Encourage creativity and exploration
· Provide verbal praise and acceptance while providing clean and consistent expectations for children's behavior
· Effective communication with parents, utilizing the Brightwheel app and in-person conversations
· Attend required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions as determined by the Director and Assistant Director
· Assist in other capacities, as determined by the Director and Assistant Director
· Work 40 hours per week
Qualifications:
· Must meet or exceed DHS Rule 3 requirements for Teacher Qualifications
· Minimum of high school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience and 18 credits
· Or Associates Degree and/or Child Development Associate credential from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition with 6 months of experience.
· Or Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education Degree
· Or any Bachelors degree in any field with the right credits and experience
· Team player and positive working relationships a must
· Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
· Must submit to and pass a background check
Preferred:
· Previous teaching or assistant teaching position with a quality preschool or child care center
· Familiar with Rule 3 Requirements and Developmentally Appropriate Activities for young children.
· Acquainted with NAEYC accreditation and MN Parent Aware Project
· Knowledge of the Brightwheel App
