Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatments including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside support.
- Take and develop dental X-ray images while adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and infection prevention management.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Collect vital signs, medical history information, and ensure patient comfort throughout their visit while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and answer questions about procedures or dental terminology.
- Maintain dental equipment including 3D scanners and dental sterilization procedures to uphold infection control standards in accordance with healthcare infection prevention policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with patient management software is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training that includes chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and aseptic technique.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while following radiation safety guidelines; experience with dental x-ray equipment is desirable.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management including sterilization procedures and healthcare infection control expertise.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
