Schedule: Tax season (late January through April 15), Mon, Tue & Sat, 9:00am–4:00pm

Position Overview

We're looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and reliable person to review and assemble completed income tax returns before they go to clients. You'll confirm that income and withholding on the return match the client's W-2s, 1099s, and other tax documents, then put together a complete, accurate packet for the client. This is a great seasonal job for anyone looking to earn extra income during the winter months, with the potential for occasional work during the rest of the year.

Key Responsibilities

•         Add up W-2s, 1099s, and other informational forms and verify that income and tax withholding match the prepared return

•         Make copies of the prepared return and informational forms for both the client and our files

•         Assemble the client packet: return, original forms, amount owed, payment vouchers and envelopes, and payment instructions for the IRS and other jurisdictions

•         Flag discrepancies for the data entry staff to review

•         Maintain strict confidentiality of client information

Qualifications

•         Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers

•         Familiarity with income tax forms (W-2, 1099, 1040) preferred

•         Ability to work well with a small team

•         Basic computer skills
