This position involves a combination of physical labor, computer work, and paperwork. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient and accurate movement of products into and out of our climate-controlled facility.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule outgoing shipments with various carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL freight).
- Prepare all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, labels, and customs forms (if applicable).
- Ensure accurate packaging and labeling of shipments to prevent damage and ensure proper delivery.
- Track shipments and proactively address any delays or issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal departments regarding shipping schedules and status updates.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying quantities and condition against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Organize and maintain the shipping and receiving area, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts as needed.
- Process shipping invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and generate reports as required.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to shipping and receiving.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a shipping and receiving role or a related logistics function.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures, documentation, and carrier requirements.
- Experience with various shipping software and systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to lift and move packages (up to 40 lbs.) and operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck) safely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Experience with JobBOSS and QuickBooks is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with good interpersonal skills.
