Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our organization’s financial operations with precision and strategic insight. Duties

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes ensuring timely completion of financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of accounting policies in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), regulatory requirements, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure transparency.
  • Supervise the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury functions including cash management and banking relationships.
  • Conduct detailed cost accounting analysis to monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support budgeting processes.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and double entry bookkeeping to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance accounting for governmental grants, non-profit operations, and other specialized sectors as applicable.
  • Coordinate external audits, prepare audit schedules, and facilitate regulatory reporting requirements efficiently.
  • Utilize advanced spreadsheets and Excel data analysis techniques to interpret financial data for strategic planning.
  • Lead the finance team by managing staffing needs, providing mentorship, fostering professional development, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support forecasting efforts by analyzing financial trends to inform budgeting decisions and long-term planning strategies.
  • Implement and maintain robust accounting systems that enhance operational efficiency while ensuring data integrity across all financial platforms.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance leadership role within a complex organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, SOX compliance standards, governmental accounting practices, and non-profit accounting frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing accounting teams with a focus on technical accounting issues such as treasury management, cost analysis, regulatory compliance reporting, and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Strong background in financial software systems including enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms; proficiency in spreadsheets and Excel data analysis is essential.
  • Experience with international accounting standards is preferred; familiarity with public accounting practices is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly through written reports and presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
