Job Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician (Millwright) performs mechanical maintenance, rebuilds, troubleshooting, fabrication, and repair work on production machinery throughout the plant. This role supports equipment reliability by performing precision alignments, installing and relocating machinery, and maintaining powerhouse systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical maintenance & rebuilds — perform repairs, adjustments, and overhauls on plant equipment
- Fabrication & machining — manufacture or modify parts; fit keys; lay out centerlines and assemblies from drawings or specs
- Precision alignment — align bed plates, housings, rolls, line shafts, gears, and couplings using levels, dial indicators, feeler gauges, etc.
- Equipment teardown & failure analysis — dismantle equipment, inspect components, and determine cause of failure
- Component repair & replacement — adjust functional parts, replace defective components, and restore equipment to proper operation
- Machinery installation & relocation — install, move, or remove machinery using hoists, cranes, jacks, blocking, chain falls, and rigging equipment
- Welding & burning — weld ferrous and non‑ferrous metals; operate gas and electric welding equipment; use cutting torches
- Powerhouse equipment maintenance — maintain boilers, compressors, and auxiliary systems
- Blueprint & schematic interpretation — read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, and control schematics
- Tool operation — operate grinders, saws, drill presses, and other craft‑specific power tools
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Thorough proficiency in mechanical maintenance skills
- Ability to weld ferrous and non‑ferrous metals
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
- 3–5 years of millwright or industrial mechanical experience preferred
- Strong understanding of tolerances, clearances, and interference fits
Pay: $26.86 - $37.23 per hour
